Border 2 Updates: Sunny Deol welcomes Diljit Dosanjh to the cast of Border 2. After announcing Varun Dhawan, Deol took to Instagram to announce Dosanjh’s casting.
Border 2 is an upcoming war film starring Sunny Deol. Deol took to Instagram on Friday to share a teaser for the film. In the teaser, it is announced that Diljit Dosanjh will play the role of a fauji. The teaser shares stills from several wars and declares that the film will be produced by Gulshan Kumar and directed by Anurag Singh. Deol shared the teaser with the caption, “Welcoming Fauji @diljitdoanjh to the Battalion of #Border2.”
Dosanjh shared the same teaser on his Instagram page as well with the caption, “Pehli Goli Dushman Chalaega aur Akhri Goli Hum! Honoured to stand wih such a powerful team and walk in the footsteps of our soldier! #Border2” Fans of Dosanjh shared their excitement over the announcement under the post. One user wrote, “Punjab desh ki shaan khda border pe seena taan,” while another commented, “Now this gonna be wild.”
While it is unclear what the story of Border 2 will be, the sequel is highly anticipated as it comes out approximately 27 years after the original. Deol recalled the pledge made 27 years ago in the movie’s announcement video and said, Â “Twenty-seven years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. To fulfil that promise, to salute the soil of India, he is coming.”
The much-anticipated sequel is in the capable hands of director Anurag Singh whose last film, Kesari, starring Akshay Kumar, depicted the historic Battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikh soldiers fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders in 1897.
Aside from Dosanjh, it was speculated that Ayushmann Khurrana will also portray the role of a soldier. However, he decided not to join the film. Till now, Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan have been officially announced as part of the cast.
Border 2 will be released in theatres on January 23, 2023.
