Devara: Part 1 Trailer Mocked for Shark Riding Scene, Netizens Call it Over-the-Top

The anticipation for “Devara: Part 1” has reached a new high following the release of its trailer, which premiered at a star-studded event in Mumbai. This eagerly awaited film promises a thrilling mix of power struggles and intense drama.

The “Devara” trailer introduces a world where fear was once unknown, only to be shattered by the arrival of a powerful new force. Directed by the acclaimed Koratala Siva, the film marks the return of superstar Jr NTR, following his highly praised performances in “RRR,” which garnered him both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.

The trailer opens with a voiceover by Prakash Raj, setting the scene in a fictional coastal land where people live without concern for caste or religion and fear no one. However, their tranquillity is disrupted by a man named Devara, whose very presence instils fear. Jr NTR is mesmerizing in the role of Devara, his fierce eyes and commanding presence making him a truly terrifying figure.

In a contrasting role, Jr NTR also portrays Devara’s son, a younger, more timid version of himself, vastly different from his father. Janhvi Kapoor plays his love interest, while Saif Ali Khan takes on the role of Devara’s friend who ultimately betrays him by aligning with malevolent forces.

The film’s cinematography, helmed by Ratnavelu, adds a rich layer to the visuals, with stunning nighttime sea scenes that promise to be a visual feast for audiences in theaters. Anirudh’s background score is notably subdued, a departure from the usually intense music he’s known for.

Why is Devara: Part 1 Trailer Being Mocked?

Shortly after the 2-minute and 39-second trailer was released, it sparked a flurry of reactions on Twitter. One disappointed viewer wrote, “Underwhelming trailer! Same old South movie formula, nothing new or exciting. No reason to watch in theaters, the star cast isn’t impressive enough. Better suited for YouTube, not a pan-India release. Disappointing and unoriginal.” Another user shared, “I found #DevaraTrailer absolutely trash. I love larger-than-life movies, but this seemed too unrealistic. That shark scene is a joke. But despite all this, the fact that everyone is talking about it, even if negatively, shows the film’s awareness is impressive.👏.”

The highly anticipated “Devara” trailer, which dropped yesterday, includes a surprising and daring visual—Jr NTR riding a shark with a whip. While this scene heightened the excitement for some fans, it also sparked ridicule and debate on social media.

Many fans expressed their excitement, with some calling it an iconic moment in Indian cinema. However, others found the scene a bit over-the-top, leading to a wave of memes mocking the visual. Despite the mixed reactions, the trailer has undeniably captured everyone’s attention, solidifying “Devara” as one of the most talked-about films of the year.
