In a surprising turn of events, the worlds of Bridgerton and Harry Potter are merging in a way fans didn’t expect.
The popular Netflix series has officially been renewed for a fourth season, which will focus on the romantic journey of Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and his love interest, Sophie Baek (known as Sophie Beckett in the book series), portrayed by newcomer Yerin Ha. With the announcement of production for the new season, additional cast members have also been revealed.
Entertainment Weekly recently reported that actress Katie Leung will join the cast as Lady Araminta Gun, Sophie’s stepmother. Fans of Harry Potter quickly recognized Katie as she played the beloved character Cho Chang starting with the 2005 film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Social media lit up with excitement over this crossover, with one fan expressing, “I squealed when I read her name on the cast list!” and another commenting, “Omg this is insane!!!”
Cho Chang, known for being Harry’s crush during the fourth book, famously turned him down for the Yule Ball, having already accepted an invitation from Cedric Diggory, played by Robert Pattinson.
Katie expressed her enthusiasm about joining Bridgerton on Instagram, posting, “Buzzin’ for me and my girls 💁🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️,” alongside pictures with fellow cast members Michelle Mao (Rosamund Li) and Isabella Wei (Posy Li).
Fans are eagerly anticipating her performance in this new role, and we can’t wait to see the magic she brings to Bridgerton!
