Tamil star Arulnithi’s much-anticipated horror film, which released in theatres on August 15, is gearing up for its OTT release. Directed by R Ajay Gnananmuthu and written by R Ajay Gnananmuthu, Venky Venugopal, and Rajavel, Demonte Colony 2 is the sequel to the highly successful Demonte Colony (2015). Arulnithi reprises his role as the lead, alongside Priya Bhavani Shankar, Archanan Ravichandran, Tsering Dorjee, Arun Pandian, Meenakshi Govindrajan, and Sarajano Khali in supporting roles.
Although Demonte Colony 2 was meant to be released in September 2023, it was postponed for a year for unknown reasons. The film’s new release coincided with Independence Day 2024 and was met with positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Many praised the film for its gripping screenplay and stellar performances by the cast. The film was able to collect Rs 39 crores theatrically, making it the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024 and the highest-grossing film in the Delmonte Colony film franchise. The producers announced a sequel right after its release.

In the announcement, Gnanamuthu said, “After completion of my next film, I will start working on the third part of Demonte Colony.” Currently, Gnanamuthu is directing a television series with actress Pooja Hegde. The name of the third installment will be, “Demonte Colony III: The End Is Too Far.“
Who Is Arulnithi?
Arulnithi is the grandson of M. Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the nephew of M.K. Stalin, the current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He made his debut in Pandiraj’s Vamasam and followed it up with well-received movies like Udhayan and Mouna Guru. Arulnithi has been praised by many critics for his choice of screenplays that put in a lot of emphasis on good content. Aside from Demonte Colony 2, his last venture was Kazhuvehi Moorkkan, a political action film with Dushara Vijayan, Santosh Prathap, Saaya Devi, Munishkanth, Sharath Lohithaswa, Rajasimman, and Yaar Kannan in supporting roles.
