Latest OTT Releases: New Movies & Series to Watch on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, JioCinema and More

Latest OTT Releases: As we usher into the fall season, OTT platforms will feature an interesting array of new releases packed with high-quality drama, comedy, and suspense. From IC 814 Kandahar to Cadets, this weekend is jam-packed with new and exciting releases on different OTT platforms.

1. KAOS (Netflix)

Released on 29th August, KAOS is an American dark-comedy that was created by Charlie Covell. It revolves around the Greek God Zeus who becomes paranoid about his death when he notices a wrinkle on his forehead. The show stars Jeff Goldblum, David Thewlis, Billie Piper, Killian Scott, and Cliff Curtis.

2. Cadets (JioCinema)

Cadets is a new JioCinema original series that just premiered. Directed by Vishwajoy Mukherjee, Cadets stars Tanay Chedda, Tushar Shahi, Gautam Gujjar, and Chayan Chopra. It follows the story of four young cadets who wish to become soldiers in the Indian army. The show is set in 1998 exactly one year before Kargil War.

While promoting the show, the director said, “We wanted to portray the true challenges of the academy while also showcasing the lighter, more human moments that accompany this journey. On set, I often reminded the cast and crew that this isn’t just a series about soldiers; it’s about young men navigating their path, and learning to lead themselves as well as others. It’s a story that remains as relevant today as it was back in 1998.”

3. IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack (Netflix)

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack was released on 29th August 2024. This miniseries is directed by Anubhav Sinha and created by Sinha and Trishant Shrivastava. It stars Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Vijay Verma, and Dia Mirza in lead roles. The miniseries is adapted from the book “Flight Into Fear” by Captain Devin Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury. The show will explore the hijacking of the flight by terrorists from multiple angles.

4. K-Pop Idols (Apple TV+)

K-Pop Idols on Apple TV+ is an upcoming documentary. The documentary is meant to showcase the work K-Pop idols put into each performance along with issues in their personal and professional lives.

5. Buddy (Netflix)

Buddy is a Telegu action-fantasy film written and directed by Sam Anton. It follows Pallavi, an officer whose soul enters a teddy bear after a major accident, trying to save her body parts from being sold with the help of pilot Aditya Ram.

6. Only Murders In The Building Season 4 (Disney+ Hotstar)

The fourth season of Only Murders In The Building started premiering on 27th August. This season will also have 10 episodes and will conclude by the end of October. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are back together to investigate another murder. This time the victim is someone close to them, Charles’ stunt double Sazz played by Jane Lynch.

7. The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 2 (Prime Video)

Season 2 of the highly anticipated Prime Video show The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power premiered on 29th August. This season will have 8 episodes and is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings books. Sauron is expected to play a major role in this season.

8. Murshid (Zee5)

Murshid is out on Zee5 on 30th August. The show will feature Kay Kay Menon, Tanuj Virani, Zakir Hussain, and Anang Desai. It tells the story of Murshid Pathan (played by Menon), a former gangster in exile who is compelled to resurface when his friend-turned-foe, forces him to take up arms once again.
