Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade was the recent victim of the vicious death hoax which claimed that the actor passed away on the 13th of August almost 8 months after suffering from a heart attack. The actor was quick to dispel all rumors and expressed his disappointment over the false news.
Shreyas Talpade is a prolific actor, director, and producer who has appeared in several Hindi and Marathi blockbusters. Best known for his role in Om Shanti Om, Talpade has appeared in comedies like the Golmaal series, Housefull, and Welcome to Sajjanpur.
In a now-deleted post made on a popular social media site, a person claimed that the beloved actor had passed away on Monday, August 13th. The post didn’t make any claims on how the actor had passed. The fake news of Talpade’s untimely death soon spread like wildfire with his fans expressing shock and sorrow. The actor has now responded to the death hoax in a lengthy Instagram post in which he urges people to stop spreading such hurtful rumors.
In the post, Talpade reassures his well-wishers that he is alive, happy, and healthy. He writes, “I’ve become aware of a viral post claiming my demise. While I understand that humor has its place, when it’s misused, it can cause real harm. What may have started as a joke by someone, is now creating unnecessary worry and playing with the emotions of those who care about me, especially my family.”
How Did the Rumor Start?
In December of 2023, the actor suffered from a heart attack on the set of his upcoming film, Welcome To The Jungle. Talpade underwent an angioplasty afterwards and in an interview expressed that the heart attack could be a side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine. In his post, Talpade adds that his recent heart episode along with the fake news of his death has intensified his young daughter’s anxiety.
He writes, “This false news only deepens her fears, forcing her to confront more questions from her peers and teachers, stirring up emotions that we’ve been trying to manage as a family.” Talpade shares his daughter with his wife Deepti who is a psychiatrist.
Talpade’s Response to Internet Trolls
While addressing the people who spread such malicious lies, Talpade writes, “To those pushing this content further, I ask you to pause and consider the impact. Many people have genuinely prayed for my well-being, and it’s disheartening to see humor used in a way that can hurt sentiments, cause distress to my loved ones, and disrupt our lives. When you spread such rumors, it doesn’t just affect the person targeted– it also affects their family, especially young children who might not fully understand the situation but feel the emotional toll nonetheless …To the trolls, I have a simple request: please stop. Don’t joke around at the cost of others and don’t do this to anyone else.”
Shreyas Talpade will be next seen in the upcoming biographical political drama Emergency as Atal Bihari Vajpayee opposite Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher.
