While speaking at a special event to show the teaser for his new film ‘Chhaava’ by Maddock Films, Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal stated that Western filmmakers created movies like “Avengers” as they lack real superheroes, unlike India’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
While speaking at a special event at Chitra Cinemas for his new film ‘Chhaava,’ actor Vicky Kaushal said that it was an honour for him to play the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While addressing his fans after the teaser trailer launch, Kaushal said, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an actor. The whole team has worked very hard on this film. I always say the West feels the need to make films like ‘Avengers‘ because they don’t have those kinds of superheroes that we have. We have real superheroes.”
He added, “If we look into the history of India, we will find so many superheroes like Sambhaji, and Chhatrapati Shivaji that all other superheroes will fail in front of them. It’s important to tell such stories and celebrate with people. We are proud of them. It’s because of their valour and sacrifice that we can live in this beautiful country.”
What is Vikcy Kaushal’s Chhaava About?
Chaava is an upcoming Hindi-language historical drama by director Laxman Utekar. The film is written by Rishi Virmani and is based on the life and exploits of the great Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj the son of the Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
It stars National Award-winning actor Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, alongside Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, and Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite. The film score and soundtrack album is composed by A.R. Rahman. Chhavva is expected to get a national release on 6th December alongside Allu Arjun’s much anticipated Pushpa 2 which will also star Rashmika Mandanna.
The first glimpse of ‘Chhaava’ was released on all social media platforms on 20th August, alongside Maddock Films’ latest offering “Stree 2.” Vicky Kaushal was last seen in the comedy film Bad Newz alongside Ammy Virk and Tripti Dimri. The film opened with a positive to average rating with many praising Kaushal’s comedic timing.

In Chhaava we are expected to see a more serious side of Kaushal. As per the teaser, we can expect Chhaava to be a thrilling ride as Kaushal’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj faces off against Askhaye Khanna’s Aurangzeb and the entire Mughal army. The thrilling, action-packed teaser was lauded on social media by fans for Kaushal’s acting and cinematography.
Actress Bhumi Pednekar commented on the teaser with, “Is there anything you can’t do @vivkykaushal09 (blessings emoji) fab fab fab.” Angira Dhar also commented, “Superb.” Kaushal’s wife, Katrina Kaif, also joined the online chatter and showed excitement for her husband’s film on Instagram stories where she wrote, “and its hereeee raw, brutal and glorious.”
