The thrilling crime series Paatal Lok is set to make its much-anticipated comeback with a Paatal Lok Season 2! On March 19, Amazon Prime made the official announcement, confirming that the critically acclaimed show will return, alongside exciting updates about the cast and crew for this next chapter.
Drawing inspiration from Tarun Tejpal’s 2010 novel, The Story of My Assassins, Paatal Lok follows the journey of Hathiram Chowdhary, portrayed by Jaideep Ahlawat. He is a dedicated police officer tasked with unraveling a complex case involving the failed assassination of a journalist by a group of four suspects. As Hathiram digs deeper, he finds himself ensnared in the dark underbelly of society, exposing the rampant corruption that plagues India.
Premiering on Amazon Prime Video on May 15, 2020, the series received accolades from critics and audiences alike. It earned a total of eight nominations at the inaugural Filmfare OTT Awards, winning five prestigious honors, including Best Actor for Jaideep Ahlawat, along with awards for Best Series, Best Original Story, Best Screenplay, and Best Direction.

Fans can look forward to seeing Jaideep Ahlawat and Ishwak Singh reprise their roles as inspectors Hathiram Chaudhary and Imran Ansari, respectively. According to an Instagram announcement from Amazon Prime, Paatal Lok Season 2 will also feature a stellar cast, including Tillotama Shome, Jahnu Barua, Nagesh Kukunoor, Gul Panag, and Anurag Arora.

“I loved the story of the first season, but Season 2 is much more complicated and refined,” Ahlawat noted. He praised the series’ writer, Sudip Sharma, for his creative approach, emphasizing that he strives to introduce fresh ideas rather than sticking to formulas that have previously succeeded. “I’m sure when the show reaches the audience, there will be some significant reactions,” he added.
In its Instagram announcement, Amazon Prime teased viewers with a glimpse of what’s to come, stating: “Two seemingly disconnected cases bring Hathiram and Ansari together again, leading them down a path of a complex conspiracy.”
Paatal Lok Season 2 is produced by Karnesh Sharma, directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware, and features Sudip Sharma as the creative director. The anticipation for this new season is palpable, and fans are eager to see how this gripping tale unfolds!
