The trailer for Bong Joon-ho‘s upcoming film, Mickey 17, featuring Robert Pattinson in the lead role, was unveiled on Tuesday. The movie is inspired by the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. In the trailer, Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) signs up for a highly unusual job—dying repeatedly. Scientists conduct experiments on multiple versions of him, leading to chaos when two or more of his versions are alive simultaneously.
The official synopsis for Mickey 17 states, “The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson), finds himself in the extraordinary situation of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living. “In addition to Pattinson, the cast of Mickey 17 includes Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Holliday Grainger, Anamaria Vartolomei, Thomas Turgoose, Angus Imrie, Patsy Ferran, Daniel Henshall, and Steve Park. Produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Bong Joon-ho, and Dooho Choi, Mickey 17 is slated to premiere in theatres on January 31, 2025.
