The Boys Season 5: Director Warns of Major Character Deaths in Finale

The Boys Season 5: The Boys creator Erik Kripke has hinted at a dramatic conclusion for the series, teasing that the upcoming fifth and final season will involve “lots of death.” Currently in development after a record-breaking fourth season, the Prime Video series promises to deliver unexpected and shocking events, as the creators no longer need to keep characters around for future seasons.

Kripke told Total Film that the writers are excited about the creative freedom that comes with ending the series, but also feel the pressure to provide a satisfying conclusion. “So many series finales suck, and it’s really hard to land the plane,” Kripke said, expressing gratitude to Amazon for allowing him to end the show on his terms. He emphasized the importance of a strong finish, noting that a successful ending could solidify the show’s legacy, while a poor one might taint its reputation.

In 2020, Kripke mentioned that he envisioned the comic book adaptation lasting “roughly five seasons,” despite his previous show, “Supernatural,” running for 15 seasons. However, he was cautious about predicting the number of seasons a show should have.

The final season comes after “The Boys” Season 4 topped Nielsen’s streaming scores, marking a significant achievement for Prime Video. Meanwhile, the platform has also greenlit a prequel series, “Vought Rising,” which will feature Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprising their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
