The Golden maknae of HYBE’s boy band BTS, Jungkook is set to release his first documentary film called ‘Jung Kook: I Am Still.’ It’s trailer was released on HYBE’s HBANGTAN TV YouTube channel. The documentary follows Jungkook’s solo journey starting from his single ‘Seven.’ It is set to be released on September 18 globally.
The k-pop star is seen getting ready to perform onstage in the beginning of the documnetary trailer saying, “I am suddenly nervous, I will do my best guys.” Jungkook released his debut solo album, “Golden,” in 2023, which included the songs “Closer to You,” “Seven,” and “Standing Next to You.” He admits, “With all of these accomplishments, I gained more self-confidence.” I guess I enjoyed the process itself. I’ll keep moving forward.
“I’ve never considered myself a genius; I simply recognize my shortcomings and attempt to improve. “I just follow my own compass,” he explains.Sharing his affection for his dedicated fans. Jungkook says, “I usually say this, but ARMY always motivates me. “It’s always more enjoyable with the fans.”
ARMYs Demand to Cancel Jungkook’s ‘I Am Still’
Many comments on official posts, including Trafalgar, a venue/theater management business, and JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL, call for the cancellation of documentary screenings in Israel.
The call to cancel the film’s screenings in Israel stems from the present war on Palestine. According to Al Jazeera, the death toll in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has topped 40,223 persons, including approximately 16,500 children, with over 92,981 injured as a result of Israeli bombardment. More than 10,000 people are missing, and Palestinians in Gaza are trying to survive after starving, being uprooted, and losing their homes, family, and friends.
Furthermore, Israel is seen as a “apartheid state” because of its illegal occupation and governance of the Palestinian lands. As a result, several netizens believe it is unethical for HYBE to release JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL IN ISRAEL, particularly given the ongoing conflict with Palestine.
As a result, ARMYs have asked HYBE to cancel screenings of JUNG KOOK: I AM STILL in Israel. Netizens are raising awareness and trending #HYBEDivestFromZionism, tagging HYBE and Trafalgar, with 11.6K posts at the time of writing.
This is the second controversy a BTS member has been involved in this month. Previously, Suga was involved in a adrunk driving case where his he was taken to the nearby police station for a breathalyser test which revealed a high blood alcohol concentration level of 0.227%. The legal limit, however, is 0.03%. On the night of 6 August 2024, Suga was involved in an accident after losing his balance while riding an electric scooter in the Yongsan district of Seoul. The dangerously high blood alcohol concentration and his accident while driving the electric scooter sparked a major controversy in South Korea and internationally about accountability, responsibility and how celebrities’ actions impact their fans.
Soon after the news broke out, Suga issued an apology for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. He acknowledged that he had broken the traffic laws and promised to be more mindful in the future. According to reports from several media outlets on August 21, BTS’ SUGA was set to appear for police questioning on August 22. In the early hours of August 22, media began gathered outside the police station to catch a sight of SUGA as he entered for questioning. However, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station confirmed that the police interrogation date for his intoxicated driving electric scooter case is still scheduled.
BIGHIT MUSIC also verified the denial, stating that BTS’ SUGA will not attend for police questioning today (August 22). They noted that the date of his inquiry could not be confirmed at this time, and they apologized for the inaccurate news report.
