SEVENTEEN Wins ‘Best Group’ Award at 2024 VMAs, Jeonghan Enlists for Military

K-pop sensation SEVENTEEN has achieved a major milestone by winning their first Best Group award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). This significant accomplishment highlights their nearly ten-year journey in the industry. Since their debut in 2015, SEVENTEEN has gained global recognition for their flawless synchronization, self-produced music, and dedicated fanbase. The Best Group award is a well-deserved recognition of their artistry and influence on the global music scene, after years of hard work, chart-topping albums, and record-breaking tours. During the event, SEVENTEEN expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their fans, Carats, celebrating this achievement together.

SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan to enlist for mandatory military service

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN‘s Jeonghan is preparing to enlist for mandatory military service later this month. PLEDIS Entertainment announced on September 12 that he will begin his service on September 26. Consequently, Jeonghan will not participate in the promotional activities for SEVENTEEN’s upcoming 12th mini album or their world tour, though he will still appear in pre-recorded content. The agency also requested that no special event be held on his enlistment day, asking fans to refrain from visiting the site and instead sending supportive messages through Weverse.

On September 9, SEVENTEEN delivered a powerful performance at Lollapalooza Berlin 2024, electrifying the crowd with hits like “Super,” “Cheers,” and fan-favorite classics like “Very Nice.” This event marked Jeonghan’s final performance before his military enlistment. The group performed without member Jun, who was unable to attend due to prior commitments.

Looking ahead, SEVENTEEN announced their return with their 12th mini album in October, alongside the RIGHT HERE world tour and the release of a Japanese single album. Their concert dates are set for October 12 and 13, with the performances being live-streamed for a global audience. The concert on October 12 will begin at 6:00 PM KST (2:30 PM IST), while the October 13 show will start at 5:30 PM KST (2:00 PM IST). In addition to their US tour, SEVENTEEN has hinted at more performances across Asia.

The group has continued to break records, becoming the first K-pop act to win at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV European Music Awards in 2022. Their 10th and 11th mini albums received critical acclaim, with their 10th mini album, FML, recognized as the best-selling global album of 2023 by IFPI, with over 6.2 million copies sold worldwide.
