Shalini Pandey, widely recognized for her versatility and impressive range in Indian cinema, continues to rise as a standout talent. From her breakout role in Arjun Reddy to her powerful portrayal in Maharaj, Shalini has consistently embraced challenging roles that highlight her acting prowess. Now, in an exciting turn of events, she’s been cast in Dhanush’s upcoming directorial project, Idli Kadai.
Fans were still buzzing about her captivating performance as Kishori in Maharaj when the news of her joining Idli Kadai sparked fresh excitement. Shalini has already begun filming for the project in Hyderabad, marking her return to Tamil cinema under Dhanush‘s direction.
Rumours began swirling after a social media post claimed that Ashok Selvan would be playing Dhanush’s brother in the film, with Arun Vijay as the antagonist and Nithya Menen as the female lead. According to the post, shooting had already started in Theni, with the next phase planned for Chennai.
However, Ashok Selvan quickly took to social media to set the record straight. While he expressed admiration for Dhanush and his hope of working with him in the future, he clarified that he was not involved in Idli Kadai. “I love @dhanushkraja sir and am an ardent fan, but I am not part of #IdlyKadai,” he wrote.
Last week, Dhanush teased fans with a concept poster for Idli Kadai. The image featured a modest roadside eatery under a starlit sky, with a shopkeeper inside and a lone figure watching him from outside. Along with Dhanush both directing and starring in the film, the music will be composed by GV Prakash Kumar, with Kiran Koushik handling the cinematography and Prasanna GK serving as the editor. The film is produced by Aakash Baskaran under Dawn Pictures and Dhanush’s banner, Wunderbar Films. Further casting details are yet to be revealed.
