SIIMA 2024: The South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) are currently taking place in Dubai. This two-day event celebrates the best in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. On Saturday, the focus was on honouring talents from the Telugu and Kannada film industries. Major winners in Telugu cinema included “Dasara” and “Hi Nanna,” while “Kaatera” and “Sapta Sagaradaache Ello – Side A” were big winners in Kannada. Sudigali Sudeer and Simran Chaudhary hosted the event for Telugu awards, and Rishi and Shubra Aiyappa for Kannada categories. This is the second consecutive year the star-studded ceremony is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Nani, after four nominations, finally secured the Best Actor award for his role in “Dasara,” which also earned Srikanth Odela the Best Director award. Nani’s co-star from “Dasara,” Keerthy Suresh, won Best Actress, while his “Hi Nanna” co-star, Mrunal Thakur, received the Best Actress (Critics) award. “Bhagwant Kesari,” featuring Balayya, won Best Film. In the supporting acting categories, Dheekshith Shetty won for “Dasara” and Kiara Khanna for “Hi Nanna.” The film “Baby” was also a major winner, with Anand Devarakonda taking the Best Actor (Critics) award, Vaishnavi Chaitanya winning Best Debutant Actress and Sai Rajesh receiving the Best Director (Critics) award for the film.
